Rodney Forest Estate is less than a one hour drive north of Auckland CBD and is accessed from two entry points.

The back block is at the end of Moir Hill Rd, (between Puhoi and Warkworth) approx 7 km’s from SH1 while the front block is 8.5 kilometres west of Warkworth Township on a sealed road. The Estate comprises 201.6 hectares of rolling to steep land in 3 titles consisting of 134.1 hectares, 42.3 hectares, and 25.1 hectares respectively.

All titles adjoin making one contiguous parcel. The front block of approx 100 hectares fronting Woodcocks Rd has been replanted in mostly Pinus Radiata 3.9 hectares was planted in 1990 and the balance between 2002 and 2005. A small grove of Poplar was planted in 2004

Figures show there were just over 200 farms sold in the three months to February. That is only 5% of farms on the market. In comparison, two years ago over 700 farms were sold in the same period, equalling 20% of the market.

The median farm price has also dropped in the last two years. It is now just over $1 million – a far cry from the $1.75 million recorded in 2008.

It has meant farmers have lost equity and the banks’ confidence.
